It is Economically and Qualitatively Profitable to Give Preference to the Seed of Domestic Production Both for Armenian farmers and Farmers in Artsakh
On June 23, the Minister of Agriculture of NKR Aram Mkhoyan held a conference dedicated to the summary of results of the works made by “Center of testing of seed quality, verification and maintenance of selection achievements, seed-farming” CJSC in 2015.
The main focus during conference was put on the production of wheat seed of high quality in Artsakh as well as on making it available for the Armenian farmers.
Seed-farming center gained the seed of “Krasnodar 99” of original class from the seed-farming research center after the name of P.P. Lukyanenko in Krasnodar, that was reproduced and about 1000 ton of seed of original class was obtained.
There are all necessary conditions that is climatic, agro-technical, in terms of favoured geographical location for producing wheat seed of high quality in Artsakh. All these, as well as seed usage of high quality, timely seeding, soil fertilization, conducting of fighting measures and the utilization of correct dose of feed make it possible get wheat seed of high quality, the bright proof of which is the registered number of last year in Artsakh: The farmers got an average of about 60 centner/ha wheat harvest off the seed given by seed-farming center CJSC.
The established price for the seed of the first reproduction is 200 AMD for 1 kg.
It is noteworthy to mention that from the point of view of price availability, it is more profitable for the farmers of Armenia and Artsakh to buy the seed of high quality produced in Artsakh rather than to import it from foreign countries.
